Onefortheroadtom gets his chase career of the mark

 In Latest News

It was good to see Onefortheroadtom finally get off the mark over fences with a spirited victory in a handicap over three miles at Fakenham on Friday.

He was continuing the fine run enjoyed by his owner Mr J.P. McManus whose horses have been in rampant form during the Cheltenham Festival. Onefortheroadtom was also the second winner of the week for the yard in JP’s colours.

An attractive grey who has been successful in a bumper and over hurdles, Onefortheroadtom has been threatening to win a race over fences for the best part of two years but luck has not always been on his side. He was given an excellent ride by Jonathan Burke and showed a nice attitude to see off the challenge of Echiquier in the closing stages. He is now qualified for the final of the Challenger Staying Chase series at Haydock on Easter Saturday.
