On My Command made a perfect start for the yard with a fluent success in a Class 4 mares novice hurdle at Market Rasen on Saturday 16 October.

I did consider another mares race for her at Stratford the same afternoon before opting to send her to the Lincolnshire track.

Johnny Burke sensibly made use of her experience by making the running on On My Command who kept on strongly to see off the challenge of Glimpse of Gala.

The early departure of the favourite Moonamacaroona helped our cause but jumping is the name of the game and On My Command was quick and accurate at her hurdles.

The race I have in mind for her next is the mares handicap hurdle at Wincanton in three weeks time which is named after my mentor Richard Barber.

When she was sent to us early in January after a busy first half of the campaign I decided to give her a break with Sally Taylor who runs a rehab and pre training yard in the Cotswolds.

On My Command looked a picture on her return to Higher Crockermoor in the summer and quickly settled into our routine after having wind op in July.

I’m delighted the patience of her owner John Ioannis Neocleous has been rewarded and am hopeful that his mare can make further progress this winter.
