ACROSS THE CARD DOUBLE WITH REVELS HILL AND ON MY COMMAND
We enjoyed a double in the space of a few minutes on Monday 14 March with Revels Hill successful at Taunton shortly before On My Command bounced back to form at Plumpton.
It was a welcome change of fortune after a rash of placed horses over the past few days.Revels Hill has progressed all season and looked like the winner from a long way out in the marathon handicap Chase at Taunton. A mistake at the last fence hardly checked his momentum before he galloped home to a decisive victory.
He could be an interesting contender for the bet365 Gold Cup on the last day of the season at Sandown as he handles better ground. Another option is the long distance handicap at Punchestown we won with Fletchers Flyer in 2016.
On My Command seems to enjoy the contours of Plumpton and back in calmer waters after her defeat in the Lanzarote Hurdle she readily defied top weight with her third course victory in the two and half mile handicap hurdle.
If she comes out of her race in good order I’m hopeful she can end her season on a high in a mares’ race on drier ground at Cheltenham’s April meeting.
We look like having just the two runners at the Festival this week with Love Envoi now likely to run in the mares’ novice hurdle on Thursday if they get all the rain that is forecast. While If The Cap Fits is an intended runner in the Pertemps.
Then we should have several runners at Uttoxeter on Saturday.
