The core jumps season is on the horizon, and we couldn’t be happier with the way the horses are shaping at home; they all look happy, healthy, and in great condition. As we look forward to having more regular runners in the coming weeks, it is now a question of bringing the horses on steadily to peak fitness as we switch to top gear when the ground eases.

Our new two furlong oval sand gallop is proving to be a key and timely addition to the facilities, and the horses certainly seem to enjoy their daily exercise on our uphill, all-weather gallop, completed at the start of June.

The early signs suggest we have a strong and talented squad of jumpers for this season. A few will run on the flat, while we look forward to the majority starting in October.

All our team are now back from furlough and have enjoyed a well-earned break in the process. It’s very exciting to welcome new faces to the senior team. Nathan Vergne joins as our Pupil Assistant, Tim Dennis as our Travelling Head Lad, and Greg Drummond as our Maintenance and Gallop Man. Do have a read of our team section further down this newsletter.

It was very sad to lose Nellie Kernow last week at Uttoxeter, and our condolences go to Sandie and David Newton, who are fantastic owner breeders, and supporters of the yard.

All the best,
