GIN COCO STRIKES ON YARD DEBUT

 In Uncategorized

Gin Coco made a striking debut for the yard with a clear cut victory in a maiden hurdle at Fontwell on Wednesday 9 March.

On his first start for 507 days he travelled like a dream, was quick and accurate at his hurdles and forged clear on the flat to win without being asked a question.

His jockey Sean Bowen was suitably impressed by Gin Coco who was sent to us by Jonathan Mayo and James Lloyd-Townshend when his previous trainer Charlie Mann retired.

First, though, the horse spent time recovering from a leg injury at the pre training yard of the former jockey Colin Tinkler who did a fine job with him before he joined us in December.

As Gin Coco had done plenty of steady fitness work  with us I’d have been disappointed if he had not been competitive because his jumping has been foot perfect. Every time he saw a hurdle at home he locked on although I can’t say I expected him to win in such style.

I’m so pleased the patience of his owners, Jonathan and James has been rewarded and we can now look forward to raising our sights as we plan where Gin Coco goes next.
