ISHKHARA LADY RETIRED
We have taken the decision to retire the hugely talented mare Ishkhara Lady after she finished lame on her debut over hurdles at Wincanton on Thursday 11 March.
We had such high hopes after she hacked up on her debut in December, 2018 but her campaign then came to a halt when she slipped the tendon off her hock.
You can never be sure they will come back after such a difficult injury so we were delighted that the patience of her owners The Horse Flys Partnership was rewarded when she returned as good as ever this season after a break of 669 days with two further successes in bumpers including a Listed event at Cheltenham.
She is the fourth horse we’ve had to be 3/3 in bumpers after Rock on Ruby, Get In The Queue and Bitofapuzzle and they were all top class.
While Ishkhara Lady clearly has a serious engine, jumping was always going to put more pressure on her hock and sadly she lost her action in the closing stages at Wincanton, though she was much better this morning (Friday 12 March).
It’s such a shame that she will not now have the chance to shine over hurdles.
But it is the right thing to call time on her racing career and she will shortly go on the market as a broodmare prospect.
