LATEST NEWS FROM HIGHER CROCKERMOOR

 In Uncategorized

Autumn is well on its way. It’s a time of year we always relish, with the excitement of unleashing new talent, alongside seeing established faces return to the track. Despite having a good amount of rainfall at the turn of the month, we could do with some more wet weather so that the ground is safe to run our winter horses.

Getting our fibre sand outdoor school in place has been the focus of this month’s activities at Higher Crockermoor. The high-performance wax-coated surface is being relocated from Seaborough, providing a durable, secure space to school horses over fences and hurdles.
On the track, Get Back Get Back recorded his second success of the campaign over hurdles at the end of September before narrowly missing out when finishing second at Wincanton. As I See It went down fighting to stablemate Captain Drake at Uttoxeter on Friday 16 October, it is always hard seeing one get beat, but they both ran superb races. Ishkhara Lady, gave us further reason to celebrate at Uttoxeter on Friday when winning the Mares’ bumper, after 669 days off the track. The Horses Fly Partnership have been incredibly patient during her long rehabilitation, so we are delighted for them.
Ffos Las on Sunday 18 October, saw If The Cap Fits make a perfect start to his chasing career for new owners Simon Munir and Isaac Souede, he will have learned a lot, and all being well, he will run next at Wincanton in the Rising Stars Chase.
Sean Bowen and Bryan Carver are at Higher Crockermoor regularly to school horses as we continue to gear the majority of our string up for an Autumn campaign. We are delighted to welcome Lorcan Murtagh to the team as Conditional Jockey. He joins us from Donald McCain and will be a valuable asset riding out and around the yard on a day-to-day basis.
Sadly, Rachel Brown has left us for pastures new. Rachel has been with us from day one at Seaborough. Incredibly efficient and helpful, her friendly face will be greatly missed, and I am sure you will join us in wishing her all the best on her new venture as a school receptionist.

All the best,

Harry & Ciara
