Litterale Ci turns on the style at Warwick
The stylish victory of Litterale Ci at Warwick on Sunday gave our team the perfect start for the week on the eve of the Cheltenham Festival.
A versatile and genuine mare with a touch of class she jumped like a natural on only her third attempt over fences with the help of a confident ride by Aidian Coleman on ground that was softer than ideal for her. With Richard Johnson setting a fierce pace on Black Tulip in the EBF Mares’ Novice Chase qualifier Litterale Ci was the only one able to go with them. Aidan was happy to sit just a couple of lengths behind the bold jumping leader before delivering a nicely timed challenge going to the last fence. Litterale Ci landed just in front there before keeping on willingly to land the £9,700 first prize with something to spare in the colours of Mr J.P. McManus.
Having won on the flat in France, she has been successful four times for us over hurdles and has now won on two of her three starts over fences. Litterale Ci is now qualified for the £40,000 handicap final of the EBF Mares’ Novice Chase series at Cheltenham on April 16.
We won’t have runners on the first two days of Cheltenham but will be looking forward to Thursday with Phoenix Way and Unowhatimeanharry both on course for the Pertemps Final and Whitehotchillifili set to run in the Daylesford Mares’ Novice Hurdle.
Bullionaire is also an intended runner in the County Hurdle on Friday if he squeezes in at the foot of the handicap & those comments apply to Air Horse One in the Martin Pipe, whose only previous appearance at the Festival was a fourth placed finish in the 2017 County Hurdle.
