LOVE ENVOI MAKES A PLEASING START UNDER RULES AT LEICESTER
We shared plenty of rewarding days with Noel Fehily in his days as a jockey and it was great to train a winner for his Racing Syndicate at Leicester on Thursday 2 December.
Noel bought Love Envoi after she won a two and a half mile mares’ point-to-point bumper at Wexford in the spring.
She joined us in the autumn and is one who will be well suited by testing ground conditions that have been notably absent in recent weeks. But she was ready to start so we sent her to Leicester for a mares’ novice hurdle over two and a half miles.
Love Envoi was headstrong from the off which made life a shade difficult for her jockey Lorcan Murtagh. But she jumped well throughout, continued to travel powerfully behind the leaders, edged ahead at the second last and though soon joined by Miss Fairfax she stayed on willingly to win by one and three quarter lengths.
Given that the third finished twenty lengths adrift it was a highly pleasing debut by Love Envoi in the colours of the Noel Fehily Racing Syndicate.
Hopefully Love Envoi will have learned from the experience and will not be so keen next time which might be in a mares’ novice hurdle under a penalty at Warwick on New Year’s Eve.
