Meet Maddy Hand
How long have you been at Harry Fry Racing?
I am going into my fourth season with the team. I have always loved horses and in my spare time I enjoy competing in unaffiliated events on my horse Moose.
What attracted you to racing?
My dad, he always used to take me point-to-pointing at Bradbury Rings which is our local track. It’s a great day out and always attracts good horses.
How do you like the new facilities at Higher Crockermoor?
It’s a massive improvement and works brilliantly. The deep sand canter is a big bonus and makes riding some of the fresh horses after their summer holidays a lot easier.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I really enjoy travelling to the racecourses especially the big festivals, a highlight was the Punchestown Festival in 2019 where I enjoyed leading up Hell’s Kitchen and Minella Awards.
What’s your favourite horse at Harry Fry Racing?
An unnamed bay gelding by Mount Nelson out of Vizean. He’s a lovely two year old for the future, he’s powerful and carries himself beautifully. Being a bit cheeky at times, makes him fun to ride.
What’s the horse your most looking forward to seeing run this season?
Gentleman Kap. He’s a gorgeous four year old who’s due to run in bumpers in October
If you could own any horse in racing who would it be?
Bristol De Mai, he wears his heart on his sleeve and always runs so consistently in the big graded chases.
