It was good to see Mr One More back to winning ways in unusually testing conditions for the time of year at Fontwell on Saturday 2 October.

He has had his share of issues which forced him onto the sidelines for over 1,000 days until he returned to action ten months ago.

Then more recently we gave him Mr One More a wind op in July. So he had a bit to prove on his first run since then in a Class 2 handicap hurdle at Fontwell.

It helped that ground conditions turned in his favour after relentless rain all day and though he fluffed his lines at the final flight he led just over 100 yards from home and kept on strongly to beat Press Your Luck by a length.

I was delighted that our perseverance paid off with Mr One More at the age of nine because it is a long time since his last success.

He will stay over hurdles now because he didn’t progress over fences after initially showing promise at Chepstow last November.
