The decision to keep Unowhatimeanharry in training was rewarded with his heartwarming triumph under top weight in the Pertemps qualifier at Aintree on Saturday a few weeks short of his thirteenth birthday.
He has been an unbelievable flagbearer for myself and Ciara and to see him in such brilliant form at his age was really uplifting. Ciara was in tears afterwards.
His victory came on an afternoon when his owner JP McManus enjoyed lots of success in his colours on both sides of the Irish Sea.
Unowhatimeanharry has now won thirteen times for us, still has bags of enthusiasm, doesn’t know he is almost a teenager and it’s possible that a change of scenery at our new yard in West Dorset has helped put a spring in his step.
He was given a fine ride at Aintree by 7lbs claiming Kevin Brogan who produced him full of running two out on their way to a cosy success.
Unowhatimeanharry was dropped 2lbs after his most recent run in the Pertemps Final at the Cheltenham Festival. While he is now qualified for that race again we don’t yet have any firm plans for him.
Our first priority is to celebrate the latest achievement by a wonderful racehorse. We are so proud to be associated with him.
