MA BELLE NOIRE OFF THE MARK OVER HURDLES
Ma Belle Noire gained a deserved first success over hurdles at Market Rasen on Sunday 9 July after a series of consistent performances in the colours of the Zoomers.
Once the overnight favourite in the two and a half mile mares maiden was withdrawn she had a straightforward task and won a shade cosily with the help of a confident ride by Sean Bowen who is setting a scorching pace at the head of the jockeys’ table.
Ma Belle Noire was wearing blinkers for the first time at the suggestion of my wife Ciara and they certainly helped her cause as she led three out before keeping on strongly to beat the second favourite Night On The Town by half a length. In breaking her duck over hurdles Ma Belle Noire earned a welcome £10,000 bonus for her connections as it was a GBB race.
I’d like to think she could win another race or two now that she has a bit of confidence.
But she has an entry in the Tattersalls Summer Sale in ten days time at Newmarket so we have an important decision to make in the next few days.
