STAR WALKING OFF THE MARK AT WINCANTON
Star Walking confirmed the promise of her seasonal debut at Uttoxeter with a narrow success in a mares’ novice hurdle at Wincanton on Thursday, 6 December in the colours of the Noel Fehily Racing Syndicate.
She was their fifth winner from their last five runners although the slow pace for the first two miles didn’t play to her strengths.
Star Walking was keen early on and had work to do when the tempo quickened, turning for home, but showed a really willing attitude as she came through to run down the long-time leader Game Colours close home.
She was clearly suited by the step up in trip to two miles, five furlongs, has now won a Point-to-Point, bumper and a maiden hurdle and there should be more to come as she gains experience.
I’ll look for a similar race for Star Walking under a penalty in a few weeks time before raising our sights with her.
