WALK ON HIGH OFF THE MARK AT NEWTON ABBOT

Walk On High gained an overdue first success in a maiden hurdle at Newton Abbot on Saturday, 19 April, in deep ground for the  Highland Walkers.

Having finished runner-up in three of his last four starts, he was certainly not winning out of turn.

Bryan Carver rode a confident race by tracking the leaders before edging ahead on Walk on High before the second last and readily drawing clear on the flat.

It was a pleasing, straightforward victory by our horse, who will remain a novice until November. We have the option of running him again in a few weeks’ time if we get sufficient rain or keeping him for an autumn campaign.
