CONSTELLATION WALK WINS AT EXETER
Constellation Walk maintained the sparkling form of our team with a pleasing success from the front in a competitive maiden hurdle at Exeter on Tuesday 17 March in the colours of the Jago Family Partnership.
He was our fourth winner from eight runners in the last fortnight. An imposing type by Walk In the Park he has been quite a challenge because he has been a bit too keen in his races and tends to race with the choke out.
Our conditional jockey Ciaran O’Shea has worked hard on getting him to relax and channel his energy in the right direction on the gallops in the mornings.
We felt it was worth trying a change of tactics by letting Constellation Walk bowl along in the lead and he duly made all the running ridden by Bryan Carver before readily seeing off the strong challenge of the hot favourite Dutch Corner.
His jumping again left a bit to be desired but a mistake at the second last hardly troubled his momentum and he galloped right through the line and took a while to pull up on the bend.
I’m delighted Constellation Walk is going the right way and can’t wait to see him over fences next season. First, though, I’ll be looking to run him under a penalty provided the ground doesn’t dry up too quickly.
