DOUBLE DELIGHT AT UTTOXETER

 In Uncategorized
We enjoyed a double in little more than half an hour in the first two races at Uttoxeter on Saturday 17 May.
Miss Goldfire won the opening a Class 5 two mile, seven furlong handicap hurdle under top weight in the colours of my racing club before Walk on High completed a fine day’s work for the team with a cosy victory in a two and a half mile novice hurdle under a 7lbs penalty.
Back in March both horses finished second on the same day at Fontwell. It’s encouraging that they are unbeaten since then.
Miss Goldfire jumps great, has gained confidence with experience, and has been well ridden on her last two starts by our 7lbs claiming conditional Ciaran O’Shea.
Although she has been on the go for a long time it’s hard to say that she needs a break given the way she skipped clear of her rivals on Saturday.
So I will be looking for suitable options for her in the coming weeks as she enjoys the prevailing ground conditions.
Walk on High had to work a fair bit harder to see off the long-time leader Ilestdancingspirit in the closing stages in the colours of the Highland Walkers syndicate.
It was good to see him taking full advantage of a decent opportunity after his success at Newton Abbot four weeks ago.
He used to be very keen as a youngster but he is growing up now and the plan is for him to go chasing on his return from a summer holiday at grass.
