FEBRUARY RACING REVIEW
Walk On High got the ball rolling in February for the Highland Walkers, finishing a game second at Taunton. He was narrowly headed inside the final furlong, but this was a bold show with the winner, Saint Anapolino, franking the form at Kempton last Saturday.
At Huntingdon, Miss Goldfire put in another consistent performance under Megan Bevan; she has been second on three occasions this season. She has really warmed to her hurdling now, and hopefully, she can go one better for the Harry Fry Racing Syndicate before the end of the campaign.
Racing with much more enthusiasm, Dubrovnik Harry seemingly enjoyed his latest start at Ascot before tiring in the closing stages; he is nine now but is lightly campaigned, with a bit of luck, there is a nice run in him before the season is out.
We were delighted with Just A Heartbeat who finished second in the concluding Mares’ Bumper. Megan Bevan deserves all the credit, from day one, she has ridden her at home, and she has taught her to relax. Looking at the run, there should still be more to come; the winner was eye-catching, but the way Just A Heartbeat finished off her race was very promising.
Neon Madonna ran with real credit in the same race; she should give the Chasing Gold Racing Club lots of fun when next seen over hurdles.
The Harry Fry Racing Syndicate’s Hello Cello enjoyed a break and ran creditably on her return; we know she prefers the top of the ground and a strongly run race. Contested in competitive mares’ maidens to date, we will look forward to seeing her in handicap company. She will be a useful type heading into the spring.
Monjules’ love affair with Fontwell continued. Despite not winning last Sunday, he put up a solid effort in second under Ciaran O’Shea.
