HELLO CELLO RECORDS FIRST SUCCESS OVER HURDLES
Hello Cello gained a deserved first success in a handicap hurdle over two miles, three furlongs at Fontwell on Thursday 23 October, in the colours of the Harry Fry racing syndicate.
She has been very consistent over the last twelve months, frequently knocking on the door, and showed a determined attitude to see off the strong challenge of Clear Storm on the run in.
She was given a fine ride by our conditional jockey Ciaran O’Shea who is good value for his 7lbs claim and will have his first mount at Cheltenham on Saturday on Miss Goldfire.
Hello Cello travelled strongly just behind the leaders, jumping soundly in the main before taking a blow going to two out where she led despite making an untimely mistake.
Another less-than-fluent leap at the final flight left her with work to do as Clear Storm briefly seized the advantage.
But Hello Cello dug deep, was soon back in front and kept on well to gain the day by half a length.
There should be more to come from our mare over hurdles and I not rule out switching her to fences at some point as she certainly has the size and scope for chasing.
With the weather on the change at last and the ground easing I’m looking forward to pressing in with our team and making plans.
