HOT ROD LINCOLN GAINS FIRST WIN

 In Uncategorized

Hot Rod Lincoln gained a deserved first victory over hurdles at Fontwell on Wednesday 10 May in the colours of the twelve strong Gale Force Wins syndicate ahead of his summer holidays.

For some of them it is a first experience of owning a racehorse and they certainly have a useful type on their hands.
Spinning round a tight track like Fontwell on good ground was not the ideal conditions for a horse who is a resolute galloper and really wants proper winter ground.

I’d taken a bit of a chance by keeping Hot Rod Lincoln in training into the new season in the hope of suitable ground and the going was perfectly safe after so much recent rain.

With the help of a positive ride from Nick Scholfield he was always in the firing line, jumping soundly, before keeping on resolutely to see off the challenge of Shandancer in a tight finish.

An eight length winner of a Point-to-Point in Ireland Hot Rod Lincoln was always going to be a chaser and could be an interesting contender for the yard when he goes over fences next season. He ran very well in a handicap last time at Sandown, will only get better with experience and hopefully the best years lie ahead.
