BURKE BACK IN THE WINNERS’ ON MA BELLE
It was a pleasure to provide Johnny Burke with a winner on Ma Belle Noire at Worcester on Friday, 29 September on his first day back in the saddle after breaking his arm in a fall at the Chair in the Grand National in April.
Johnny is a big part of our team and has been steadily working his way back to full fitness. But he didn’t have to get too serious on Ma Belle Noire as they won a Class 4 mares’ staying handicap hurdle tidily off a mark of 103 by a length and a quarter from Stamina Chope.
Fitting blinkers has definitely helped this mare get her head in front. She is thriving now, was winning for the third time from her last four starts and jumps so well she is likely to be seen next over fences in a novice handicap Chase at Worcester on November 1.
We twice entered her in sales over the past few months but she will be staying with us now and hopefully has more to offer over fences.
