PAR AVION DELIVERS A FIRST CAREER SUCCESS
Par Avion delivered a poignant success in the colours of his late owner-breeder, Lady Cobham in the bumper at Newton Abbot on Wednesday 28 October.
We very much miss the enthusiastic support of Lady Cobham, who died a few hours after he finished an unlucky second at Taunton in February.
Wednesday’s race was a lovely starting point for Par Avion, who wasn’t suited by the slow early pace before keeping on powerfully to win decisively after easing into the lead over a furlong out.
It’s two years since we won the same race with Idaho Sun and hopefully Par Avion can progress too as he gains experience. Ultimately he will be a stayer over hurdles.
He was our first winner this autumn and only our second runner in October after the driest of summers. As a result the ground is still so quick at several racecourses with two of our local meetings Exeter and Wincanton unable to fulfil their fixtures.
We have the option of rolling the dice again and running Par Avion in a Listed bumper at Cheltenham next month before he goes over hurdles.
