SOUL LIMBO RECORDS FIRST FLAT SUCCESS AT BATH

 In Uncategorized
Soul Limbo dug deep to win a ten-furlong novice stakes at Bath on Saturday, 13 September, on his second start on the flat in the colours of the Twelfth Man partnership.
He was given a lovely ride by Charlie Bishop, who was content to bide his time when the early pace was strong.
Soul Limbo then made steady headway in the straight until he was on the coattails of the leader, the odds-on favourite Goodwood Mogul, and once he made his challenge, Charlie was always confident that he would prevail.
It was tight in the closing stages, but Soul Limbo edged ahead in the final half furlong and held on well by a head.
It helped that the ground was not nearly as testing as advertised… more like good jumping ground.
Soul Limbo, by the Derby winner Wings of Eagles, was our first success on the flat since Metier landed the Chester Cup.
Hopefully, there are more races to be won with him on the level, and I certainly wouldn’t mind a few more dual-purpose horses like him.
We will see how the handicapper reacts, but Soul Limbo could be in action again on the flat before the end of the turf season because he is not going to run over jumps in the depths of winter.
We also have the option of turning him out again in a novice hurdle under a penalty.
