LAST OF A LEGEND GAINS FIRST SUCCESS

 In Uncategorized

Last of a Legend gained a deserved first success on her fifth start over hurdles at Uttoxeter on Friday 29 July in the colours of Hot To Trot racing.

She was unlucky last time when narrowly denied at Market Rasen and showed a willing attitude on her return to action as she dug deep for Johnny Burke to see off a determined challenge by Miss Chantelle on the run-in.

In landing a mares’ maiden hurdle on Friday she also collected an extra reward of £20,000 from the GBB bonus scheme in addition to the prize money. Given that she has a handicap rating of 103 it was a red letter day for her owners.

We have always liked Last of a Legend who went close on her debut in a classy bumper at Aintree last October, tries hard and is out a decent mare I trained called Blue Buttons who won four races and reached a career high mark if 137.

Last of a Legend has earned a break before a winter campaign on easier ground. We have now had four winners this week which is quite something when you consider that we don’t usually have four runners most years in July!
